Coaching Separated Couples in Co-Parenting
Five 2-hour teleclasses
Trainer – Dr. Caron Goode
Co-parenting has become quite a buzzword. While the word may be new, the
concept is as old as parenting itself. Co-parenting is simply two
parents working to do what is best for their children. Sound familiar?
Of course it does. Co-parenting is what most mothers and fathers strive
for.
Unfortunately, when relationships end, doing what is best for the
children is often clouded by the residue of hurt adult feelings. This
challenge is what makes coaching separated and divorced parents one of
the most requested services in the parent coaching field.
Coaching Separated Couples in Co-Parenting prepares coaches to meet the
challenges co-parents face. This five week teleclass is designed to give
coaches the skills needed to help separated and divorced families make
positive moves forward. These skills include informed listening,
compassionate communication, and creative problem solving. Students
participate in lectures, assignments, practice coaching, and real time
interviews with co-parented children and co-parenting couples. Students
will then use this information to coach co-parents through situations
such as:
- Poor communication
- Inconsistent parenting goals
- Helping children adjust to living in two households
- Visitation issues
- Unresolved emotions
- Developing an effective co-parenting plan
But students will do much more than develop strong coaching
competencies. They will also learn how to nurture and develop a
successful coaching practice by incorporating the skills they have
learned and honoring their desire to make a difference.
