Bio

As a Certified Parent Coach, Joan is enjoying the second chapter of her life working with parents who are struggling to raise their children in today's ever changing and chaotic world. Joan also provides orientation and training to new foster/adoptive parents and is a Certified Adoption Investigator for the State of South Carolina. She has a Master of Arts in Adult Education and 25 years of experience facilitating training in a variety of capacities in the nonprofit world. Much of her previous work involved assisting people with disabilities in their struggle for community inclusion and equal rights. Joan and her husband live in Charleston, SC and are foster/adoptive parents of 4.5 lively and rambunctious adolescents. This life allows her to experience first hand, the challenges and humor that only four teens can bring to a household. She loves bringing these experiences and insights into her work with families who are parents of teens and/or have chosen foster care or adoption.
